Hello from Pitchfork & Crow ~
The nice weather is sticking around and we’re gearing up for another day at the Salem Saturday Market tomorrow! Here’s a selection of what we’ll be bringing to market:
- Garlic Whistles
- Head Lettuce
- Salad Mix
These farmers have been busy this week, mostly planting, planting, planting! We’ve finally made a dent in the backlog of starts waiting patiently to be transplanted into the field. We’ve even planted out our first rounds of basil and cucumbers, suggesting we truly believe the season has just begun and the weather is going to give us a break. Our transplanting efforts have been streamlined this week as we’ve been able to fine tune the process. Having two tractors working to prepare and subsequently mark the beds has really helped standardize our bed size and helped to make the work get done a little faster.
So, we’re off to harvest for market tomorrow and then get back to planting. You’ll see that we’re mainly bringing lettuce and more lettuce, but we’ve got some garlic whistles for you too! Tasty, garlicky, and totally seasonal! And you never know what surprise veggie we might end up bringing to market tomorrow once we’re able to survey the fields.
