Hello from Pitchfork & Crow~

It’s nearly the weekend once again and we’re preparing for the Salem Saturday Market.  Here’s a selection of what we’ll be bringing:

  • Basil
  • Broccoli
  • Cabbage
  • Carrots
  • Cauliflower
  • Chard
  • Cucumbers (slicing and pickling!)
  • Dill
  • Kale
  • Lettuce
  • Yellow Crookneck Squash
  • Zucchini

Last week I mentioned that we had entered a few vegetables in the Oregon State Fair vegetable competition.  This week I’m excited to share that we’ve brought home six first place blue ribbons and one third place white ribbon.  The fair runs through Monday and we’ve entered a few more vegetables, so if you’re heading down to the fairgrounds, check out our award winning veggies in the Hart of the Garden building.  Of course you can see them at the Saturday Market too.  The State Fair and Labor Day beckon Fall, and heading out to the acre we definitely can see the seasonal change.  The tomatoes are beginning to turn red and the tomatillos are filling their husks.  The winter squash plants are beginning to die back and the squash are ripening on the vine and many of the pumpkins are a bright orange.  The harvest that we’ve been planning for since spring is upon us and we’re glad to be sharing it with you!

We hope to see you Saturday sometime between 9am and 3pm.  The Salem Saturday Market is located at the intersection of Summer and Marion streets NE in downtown Salem.

Thanks!
Jeff and Carri
