this week at market {september 10}

Hello from Pitchfork & Crow ~

It’s true, we’re headed to the Salem Saturday Market tomorrow!  Here’s a selection of what we’ll be bringing to market:

  • Apples
  • Basil
  • Broccoli (limited supply)
  • Cabbages
  • Chard
  • Cooking Greens
  • Kale
  • Peppers
  • Potatoes
  • Salad Mix
  • Spicy Black Radishes
  • Summer Squash
  • Tomatoes
  • Tomatillos

Now that September is here, it looks like summer decided to show up.  We’re finally experiencing the heat we’d been hoping for for months.  This is the sort of weather that makes growth at the farm obvious and noticeable.  The fall brassicas are looking good and the overwintering brassicas are sizing up too, suggesting they might actually make it through the cold and rainy months ahead.  The question lingering in the air of course, is whether we’ll still be at this farm to see those overwintering crops mature.  This past week we’ve continued to weigh our options and seek out possibilities for stable farmland lease locations closer to our West Salem house.  Though we continue to be unsure just what next season is going to look like, we’re thankful for the harvest we’re currently bringing in.  For now, we’re just glad to be making regular appearances at the Saturday Market again, and love seeing everyone and appreciate your support.

We hope to see you Saturday sometime between 9am and 3pm.  You can find us at the Salem Saturday Market near the intersection of Winter and Union streets in downtown Salem.

Thanks!
