Hello from Pitchfork & Crow ~

We’re writing this afternoon to let you know that we’re taking a week off from the Saturday Market.  We don’t generally take a weekend off from the market once we make our first appearance, but this weekend seemed like a good time to catch up with our backlog of work and give the veggies in the field a week to gain some size now that some summer warmth has decided to arrive.  Hopefully we’ll be back next week.  In the meantime we hope you’ll support your other local farmers that will be at the market this weekend.

On another note, I thought I’d pass along information about a farm gathering interest in a Salem Buying Club for their meat.  Afton Field Farm out of Corvallis is setting up a monthly drop in Salem and is looking for interested folks to sign up.  You can find more information on their farm and the Buying Club on their website here: http://aftonfieldfarm.com/products/metropolitan-buying-club/.  We’re going out on a limb and guessing that if you’re interested in local vegetables you might also be interested in sourcing local meat and we’d love to support these young farmers and their farm.

It’s the Fourth of July weekend and the weather looks like it’s going to cooperate with some summery weather for the holiday weekend.  Hopefully you’re planning to get out there and enjoy it soon!  See you in a week or so.
