Hello from Pitchfork & Crow ~
We’re getting ready for another day at the Salem Saturday Market tomorrow! Here’s a selection of what we’ll be bringing to market:
- Fava Beans
- Head Lettuce
- Peas!
- Salad Mix
Whoa, it’s the weekend again! And the first weekend of the summer proper! Time flies when you’re having fun, and when you’re working long hours in the field. What have these farmers been up to this week? First off, we finally finished planting the last of our summer squash and melons. A little late but so far they seem happy enough to be in the field. We also bought two fun pieces of equipment that should make our lives a little less stressful going forward. First we bought a belly mower for the Farmall Cub as seen in the photo above. We hope to be able to maintain our mowing schedule a bit better now. Second, we bought another tractor! It’s a 1970s White 60hp beauty! We just got it to the farm this morning, so pictures are sure to come soon. Of course we’re in the market for bigger implements, now that we have the horsepower to pull them. So, that’s our week in a nutshell, if you add in lots of moving irrigation pipe too. The weather is warming, plants are growing, and we’re feeling better and better about this farming season!
We hope to see you Saturday sometime between 9am and 3pm. You can find us at the Salem Saturday Market near the intersection of Winter and Union streets in downtown Salem.
Thanks!
