Hello from Pitchfork & Crow ~
We’re ready for a gorgeous day at the Salem Saturday Market tomorrow! Here’s a selection of what we’ll be bringing to market:
- Arugula Rapini
- Head Lettuce
- Prize Choy
- Salad Mix
- Salad Turnips
I’ll give the weather talk a rest for a week. Although we’ve seen a good deal of rain this past week, today has been fabulous and we’re looking forward to the sun sticking around for a little while. So, it’s difficult to complain and remind everyone about the cold, wet spring because it 70 degrees and summery outside. Instead of dwelling on the weather, let’s talk about tractors!
We purchased a 1947 Farmall Cub cultivating tractor this week. It’s exciting partly because it’s our first tractor purchase. We currently rent a tractor for working up the ground, including discing and tilling, as well as mowing. Unfortunately this tractor won’t replace the rental tractor, but we are in the market for one that will. In the meantime this new tractor is for weeding beds and hopefully hilling potatoes and other similar tasks. Which is the other reason we’re excited about this purchase. It should save time in the field and make managing this 15 acre farm a bit easier. Plus, now that the sun is shining, we should be able to put this little machine to work!
Tomorrow, though, we hope to see you Saturday sometime between 9am and 3pm. You can find us at the Salem Saturday Market near the intersection of Winter and Union streets in downtown Salem.
