this week at market {may 29}

Hello from Pitchfork & Crow~

We’re gearing up for the Salem Saturday Market tomorrow!  Here’s a selection of what we’ll be bringing to market:

  • Braising Mix (Arugula, Yukina Savoy, Castlefranco, Dill and Parsley)
  • Chard
  • Chicories (Catalogna and Castlefranco)
  • Collards
  • Kale (Red Russian and Lacinato)
  • Lettuce (Romaine, Butter, and Leaf)
  • Prize Choy
  • Radishes
  • Salad Mix (a mix of lettuces and spinach!)
  • Spring Leeks

It’s Friday afternoon again already and we’re getting ready to begin this week’s harvest for tomorrow’s Saturday Market.  We had a great first week back last Saturday and we’re hoping for another great day tomorrow.  It was fun seeing so many familiar faces, and meeting new folks too.  We’re glad to be able to share fresh local and organic vegetables with our appreciative community.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, this past week has been wet and cold, carrying on the standard wet spring we’ve experienced this year.  While the rain has continued to slow our planting progress in the field, we did manage to get some weeding and trellising done.  These tasks make for happy vegetables!  We also continued planting flats of veggies to be transplanted out in the coming months.  We’re counting on the sun coming out sooner or later, and we’ll be ready when it does!  For this week though, we’ll have plenty more spring greens and some radishes to share with you.

We hope to see you Saturday sometime between 9am and 3pm.  The Salem Saturday Market is located at the intersection of Summer and Marion streets NE in downtown Salem.

Thanks!
