Hello from Pitchfork & Crow~

It’s the very last week for the Salem Saturday Market!  That’s gotta be worth braving the rain.  Here’s what we plan to bring to market:

  • Acorn Squash
  • Arugula
  • Beets
  • Broccoli
  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Butternut Squash
  • Carrots
  • Chard
  • Collards
  • Cooking Greens Mix (Kale, Chard, Collards, Cabbage, Parsley)
  • Delicata Squash
  • Kale (Red Russian & Lacinato)
  • Leeks
  • Onions ( cippoloni & white/red storage onions!!)
  • Parsley
  • Peppers (green bells, yellow hot wax, red sweets!)
  • Potatoes (fingerlings, reds, & yukon golds)
  • Pumpkins (minis, pie, & jack-o-lanterns!)
  • Rutabaga
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Tomatillos
  • Turnips & Turnip Greens

The 2010 market season has come to an end and Saturday will be our last market day until next spring.  It’s hard to believe we’ve come to the end already, though it’s nearly November so I guess it’s true.  In some ways it feels like we just returned to market after last winter’s break.  I admit we’re ready for getting a little more sleep on the weekends and we’re looking forward to focusing on the projects piling up on our to-do list.

As we bring a close to this season at the Saturday Market, we want to send out a big THANKS to all of our customers.  We couldn’t be farmers without eaters and we appreciate that you make the choice to buy locally grown organic vegetables directly from us!  We’re already working on plans for next year and we hope you’ll join us again in the spring once we’re able to return to the market with fresh veggies.

For those of you interested in joining the Pitchfork & Crow CSA for 2011, look for an e-mail from us in the next couple of months.  We’re finalizing the details and will be accepting new members soon.

We hope to see you at the last Saturday Market between 9am and 3pm.  The Salem Saturday Market is located at the intersection of Summer and Marion streets NE in downtown Salem.

Thanks!
Carri Heisler and Jeff Bramlett
